No diagram, but I've done it a couple of times. Pull the steering wheel, unplug the wiring harness, then undo the thre hex head bolts from the bottom holding the column together and it comes right off. You have to drive the pin out of the actual collar to pull the shifter lever. good Luck!
Does anyone have a good diagram for disasembly of the shift arm at steering wheel ?
Is it 2WD? Here's the diagram from the Ford parts catalog.
Also, just so you know, more info on what you have would be good. There are over a dozen different columns on these trucks.
Have wheel off and all the rest but how do I get the collar off without cutting the wires. Plug is too big to pull up through column.
It's a little tricky but you need to take the wires out of the plastic plug.
Make a diagram of the wires location in the plug. I'm doing this from a very foggy memory, been years since I've had to do this. There is a red plastic insert that you remove. IIRC then each wire terminal has a small tab that has to be depressed to remove the wire from the plug.
Tie a string to the end of the wires so you can pull them back through when you go to reinstall.
Like I said, this is coming from a very foggy memory. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.
