Hey there this is just a quick post, I’m doing a full resto on a 78 f150 and want to keep the bench seat. The bottom in mine is still original but the back isn’t, seems to be from a 90’s/early 2000’s Ford. I can only find foam for the bottom cushion and have decided to just buy foam and carve out my own backing.
But before I do that does anyone know a company that sells pre molded seat foam for the back? Or any tips for doing it myself? Thank you.
One thing that's missing in our beloved 73-79's is a bench seat with head rests that keep you and yours heads from cracking the rear window in case of an accident. So if you want to stay with a bench https://lancaster.craigslist.org/pts...286079857.html

Agreed, but I am also a big hat wearer (cowboy hat to be exact) and it gets in the way. Yes safety is always no.1 but this truck is the last thing on the safety list haha. No airbags, everything as solid as stone. So a seat like that isn’t my top priority, plus the truck will be drove under 5k miles a year, way under.
If you are not solid on keeping the original seats you could use a 92-96 benches with arm rests and head rest. Which is what I am doing with my 73. I wouldn't need my original after that.
Indeed. Just talked to someone I know who was in the same spot as me at one point and they used a bench seat from a bullnose and it works great while looking the same. Plus there’s way more of those out there than the ones in dents.
Used a 1994 Ford F-Series Bench Seat in my 1977 Ford F-150, Regular Cab, SWB 4x4. Really like the fold down center arm rest and the safety head rests can be removed.

The foldable rest is definitely nice in these old trucks, not many places to rest on beside the door. I Know some people with some of decommissioned 90’s trucks so I’ll give them a shout.
Thank you to everyone who has replied to this thread it truly means a lot to me and I appreciate it way more than you know, it’s nice knowing you always have folks to lean back on
