Key Fob Keyless Entry Problems
The keypad on the door works perfectly, every time, without incident.
It took me 2 hours to program remotes when i got the truck, and even then it on occasion took repetitive button presses to get things to work, other times it would work first try.
Its a 2000 Ex, where is the module receiver for the keyfobs in the dash, and where can i get a replacement, and, do i have to have a dealer involved in replacing it, or are the fobs paired to the ECM and the module just being a receiver.
Im tired of messing with this one, my remotes are BRAND NEW, thought it was the remotes, changed batteries, but the problem has always persisted, the module in the truck is the last remaining piece.
***Locate the vehicle security module on the dash panel behind the radio and heater controls and disconnect the vehicle security module electrical connectors.***
NOTE: Prior to removal of the vehicle security module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to a diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed.
You should check for any codes related to this as well. You may be able to run a diagnostic of this module with ForScan or a good code scanner tool.
NOTE: Upon installation of a new Vehicle Security Module (VSM) , the module must be reconfigured.
The vehicle security module (VSM) is the only multifunction module on this vehicle.
The VSM constantly monitors its subsystems for concerns. If a concern is found in one of the subsystems, the VSM will record the concern in the form of a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) .
The VSM controls the following systems:
- remote keyless entry (including panic feature)
- computer-operated locks
- autolamp
- keypad keyless entry
