Hello once again, I have decided not to sell my e350 so here we are. I have a 2002 E350 Super Duty with the 5.4 L
With that being said, could someone point me in the right direction for getting information on servicing the power steering? Maybe like the service manual or something?
I have a leak which I believe is power steer fluid. The van also whines really bad. A week ago I noticed that my steering was heavy and making a lot of noise. I checked power steer fluid and it had bubbles in it. Upon further inspection I noticed a lot of fluid underneath the motor. It's not oil.
I guess what I'm asking is, if it's whining really loud, could the power steering pump just be bad? Or would air in the lines cause a horrible whine? (the heaviness of steering went away)
Any information at all would be greatly appreciated and beneficial. Even some tips on what I could check. Thank you.\
I found where the leak is coming from, the pump connects to a hard line at the bottom that leads elsewhere. Its leaking from that hard line connection into the pump. Should i just completely replace the whole pump?
Go to Fordpartsgiant.com and wade through their year/chassis specific catalog for the proper part number.
Thanks, I'll check that site out.
Is there anything special I have to do when removing this line? Should I remove all the fluid before hand? Also is there a service manual available on here for this van? I couldn't seem to find anything.
Well, from the sound of things, there isnt going to be a lot of fluid left in the system. If you dont have the proper tools and/or knowhow,i suggest you have a mechanic do the job.PROPER TOOLS especially.

its got quite a bit of fluid in it, its a slow leak and i dont necessarily believe the loud whine is coming from PS pump but since it was leaking i figured id start there. Im starting to believe its coming from the AC pulley but cant be sure until later today, I punched myself in the face hard trying to use a ratchet and a jack handle to loosen tension on the belt.
Id rather learn to do something than pay someone else to do it for me. Not once have i paid a mechanic to work on my cars other than exhaust work.

I found the ac compressor assembly on this site, under the parts list it does not show the bearing that goes into the pulley, is it even possible to buy just the bearing for the ac clutch? Or does good ole ford want you to buy a completely new ac compressor

Are you looking for A/C parts or power steering parts?
The original problem was a whiney pulley, i discovered it wasnt the ps pump but the AC compressor bearing. I managed to find the bearing (60$ at napa...) but im having trouble getting to the bearing.
