400 engine
In response to the questions about how she feels driving is still has a feeling of missing throughout the entire rpm range. Feels smooth right off the line, but quickly has almost a shudder like feeling when under load up through the shifts of the transmission.
I only had time for a quick lap around the neighborhood last evening so no chance to really get on it. I'm going to make the suggested changes to the initial timing and go for a longer drive this evening.
I wouldn't know a Duraspark if it hit me in the face, and I'm assuming your dizzy is a Duraspark. (1 or 11 ?)
I did a quick google search to satisfy curiosity and came up with these :

I'm used to seeing a bigger selection ! LOL
Tbear853 might be able to assist you with what you need.
If the weights/limiters are the ones underneath, then yuk, have fun with that.

With regard to the constant missing, did you check the resistance of the HT leads prior to fitting them ?
MSD cables, for example, state they must be <500 ohms per foot.
I know they are new, but that doesn't mean that they aren't faulty. (I've had to swap MSD HT leads at the shop coz several were out of spec.)
A quick test would be to run the engine in complete darkness and see if you can see what looks like lightening in any of the leads. Lightening = faulty.
The following won't necessarily stop the missing, but I would do it anyway :
Check HT leads resistance subject to manufacturer specs.
Check coil resistance subject to manufacturer specs (MSD Blaster coil, for example, is 0.7 ohms.)
Check all spark plug gaps. (Their resistance can be checked too.)
Check rotor and the eight bits the rotor hits, inside the dizzy.
With the engine running, attach a multi-meter to the battery live and ground and read the volts. (Should be +/- 14 point something)
Then attach the multi-meter to the battery live and unpainted bolt on the engine and observe the volts. (Should be +/- same as battery reading.)
Then attach the multi-meter to the positive coil terminal and the engine bolt just used. (Should be +/- same as battery reading.)
Not sure about the shudder or ''still 16'' vacuum'', so we'll put that on the 'to consider later' list.
