Been a long while since I posted. Been busy but picking away at my project '77 F100 short box styleside. Painting it in pieces, a few at a time due to lack of space. Decided to hold off painting the hood, bumper, and grille to take a break from sanding. So I decided to get the wiring done before I put the fenders on. I'm using the steering column from a 1982 Ford Crown Victoria, along with all the switches on it. So far I've got the ignition and turn signal switches working, but I'm having trouble with the wiper switch. This switch seems to be an orphan in that I cannot find information or a connector for it. The connector is different than what I see in wiring diagrams I have. It's an 8 pin switch that seems to be the same as a switch I saw on Ebay for a 84-92 Lincoln, although not sure that info is correct. I'm including a picture of the switch from the bottom. Does anyone have any info on this thing? Hoping for a pinout diagram but I'll take what I can get.
Thanks for any help you can give me! photo of switch from below
Thanks for that. Yeah I keep seeing that connector but its not the same. This one has 8 terminals. I got it to the point where the wipers run at high, but they park on low, and don't do anything in park/off.
Yes I have that governor. Unfortunately I threw the wiring harness to the Crownvic away by mistake a few years ago. Should there be something between that and the switch connector. I was going by this pic off Ebay
Since we are not talking Ford truck to Ford truck parts, I am probably not going to be any help. Sorry I do not have an answer to your question.
I believe normally truck harness direct to switch. Unless you add intermittent wipers then truck harness to adapter harness (that get the governor wired in) then the red end of the harness to the switch.
I may end up doing that. I wanted to use the wiper delay feature too. What can I say? I'm stubborn that way. Also I modified the dash for extra gauges, and at the same time filled in the hole for the dash switch. Might have to undo that. It just seems weird that I can't find any reference to that switch layout anywhere, and yet I can buy a switch!
Thanks for trying guys.....John
It should be in the wiring diagrams for most any Ford in the mid 80's. I've swapped them switches between Mustangs Cougars and Crown Vics. Have a 84 Mustang switch in my 78 Fairmont but it's all in boxes now.
