My truck bed is normally uncovered most of the time. I've been using a 5 gallon plastic bucket with a lid to store jumper cables, stanadyne bottles, nylon tie downs, etc. It's cheap, but works.. the problem is anchoring in the bed. Today I use nylon strap around it to tie-down hook in lower corner,, but thats less than optimal.
Looking for ideas to replace with some more substantial, but not a lot bigger. Any ideas?
If the 5 gallon bucket works, why replace it with a ridiculously overpriced 5 gallon bucket with a Yeti sticker on the side? I use 5 gallon buckets a lot to hold 'things'. I put it against the bed side and run a bungee from the lower bed tie down in the corner of the bed, around the bucket and through the handle and up to the box link handle. Keeps the bucket secure. I bought a bucket with a large screw on lid that makes access a little easier so you don't have to pry off the lid every time you need to fuel up.

I use these tie down cams in the link below (found mine at Home Depot) with some paracord to hold down smaller stuff. I use them to hold fuel cans and all sorts of stuff. They have worked very well for me and are versatile and quick. I also have a length of chain that goes around the front and sides of my bed. I used quick links to connect to the OEM tie downs. Now I have an anchor point all the way around the bed and it was cheap, easy, and can be used for other stuff. I learned the chain truck from an older farmer.
yea, i saw this, and looked at it. Just wasnt my thing? to me "portable" is something removable (without leaving holes) and not vehicle specific. In the end, I went with the high-priced Yeti bucket with lid dark gray almost same color as the truck. What it has that regular 5 gallon bucket doesnt is a couple of tie down loops molded into it so that i can tie it down to the cargo loops with a ratchet strap.
