HEY ALL. New Member. First time on the site. Second Excursion - I owned an '03/7.3L Limited Luxury until 2010 and sold when my son started driving and was intimidated by the size.

Drove an H2 since 2008 which was destroyed in a very severe accident in January where I hit a parked (on the highway, no lights, no blinkers, nothing - at night) boxtruck at 65mph and my truck burst into flames.

Found a BEAUTIFUL (so it seemed) 2005 Limited/6.0 that I picked up last week. Interior and exterior absolutely near showroom. Love the truck. Was so enamored that I didn't crawl around underneath it until days later when I saw on the title that it was an OHIO truck for 12 years and the bottom is covered in rust of various severities - a lot of surface rust, and some supports and skid plates that are more than surface. SOOO, I will be searching in West Palm Beach, FL for a shop that does in depth rust removal and bottom coating. My penalty for being impatient when looking and not doing my due diligence. I should know better.

Will be researching some other things as I go - I believe because of the rust the previous-previous owner removed the side running boards, so I am looking at the AMP power running boards but need to ensure there is no damage to the mounts. And will also be looking at updating the stereo to something a little more modern.

Hopefully your rust issues aren't severe, though we do like our salt here in OH. you'll also want to check under the body cladding as the door bottoms, fender bottoms, etc. like to peel and rust in those areas. Amp step will be a great addition! I looked for a while for those, but ended up getting a set of late model (2019) boards off of a SD that I'll install after I get my rust under control and replace a bunch of metal this spring.
