So I have this cool new F-350 Lariat DRW and I remove the tailgate so I can put my slide-in truck camper in. I follow the directions and cap the 4 wiring harnesses so I won't get any error messages.
All seems to work as expected, lost the tailgate camera of course, but what I didn't expect is getting a warning message and sounds when I put the truck in reverse and engage the Trailer Reverse Guidance View. That is the view provided by the cameras in the rear view side mirrors that essentially make the trailer disappear and just show the sides of the truck.
I can see the camera picture on the screen, but I get a "Trailer Reverse Guidance System is Not Available" and the Add a Trailer prompt. All the while the picture is there although it is flashing in and out and there is a warning chime going off.
It must be happening because that camera view is tied into the TOWING configuration and without a tailgate it is not liking life. With the tailgate on and no trailer configured it worked just fine. I thought caping that harness as instructed would alleviate that.
