My 2020 F-350 has the 360 camera view and trailer reverse guidance. I haul a slide-in truck camper requiring me to remove the tailgate, which includes the reverse camera.
If I select the Trailer View (side Mirror cameras) or Truck Bed View cab mounted camera, I get a non stop Trailer Reverse Guidance Not Available Message and alert audio. Pressing the OK switch clears it for about a half second, but it resets and goes off again.
The Trailer Camera helps me load my camper as I can balance the distance between the camper edges on each side. I also use the Off Road display when loading because it gives me front wheel position.
The cab mounted camera helps me see my boat after I remove the truck camper and want to launch the boat.
The owners manual says putting the connector covers on the tailgate wiring is important and will prevent nuisance messages so I always do, but these messages are really annoying. They also cover up the Off Road display, rendering it useless.
Do any of you know of a work around? My local Ford dealer was no help. I feel like it is an unintended feature and Ford should resolve it, but Ford is big and I only own one truck.
Is there a contact at Ford that may be able to help?
It's a bit expensive (I have one) but Camera-Source.com makes a kit which includes another Ford tailgate camera, in a small box, with an extension cable that plugs in where the tailgate was plugged in, that you can mount on the camper after it's loaded. You could plug that in ahead of time and it would stop your errors! Make your own bracket for it and once the camper is loaded, just hook it onto the back of your camper and voila', you have eyes in the back of your truck camper - on/in your Ford Dash! https://camera-source.com/automotive...-included.html
