I guess the fact that the majority of us in our hobby are higher in mileage is evidence by one of the longer threads being focused on rebuilding the rebuilders . LOL
TOM, i am hoping that by the end of 4 sessions i will be 1/2 as good as you you said that you gave up the walker and started using the cane .that will never happen with me.my nerves are so bad that if i try to use the cane i will end up shaking it so much that it will go out from under me and i will fall .so i have to keep on using the walker .the next time that your wife uses the washing machine ,when it goes on the spin cycle ,just put both hands on it for a minute and then you will know how bad my nerves really are ..i have not been able to write for at least 2 years..i was able to print for a while ,but that has gone down the tubes also it takes me at least 2 minutes to print my name and address. i feel good when i get a reply or an e-mail thanks everyone for all your support you have no idea how good it feels from all of you thanks again Bob
Hi Bob. keep working on being positive. I think it's a mistake to compare your progress to where others were at the same point in their recovery. Everyone is different. My mother-in-law had knee replacement surgery when she was 89 and had a faster recovery than my wife who had the same surgery in her mid 60's. The important thing to note is they both recovered. Hang in there with the therapy and exercises. Take comfort in the fact that very likely the worst days are behind you. Your "virtual" friends out here in FTE land are pulling for you.
God bless your efforts and give you the will and patience needed as you fight your way back-
thanks jim- i am not trying to compare myself with anyone else,i am just hanging in there .i know that each and every one of us is different even twins .i am looking forward to the day that i can walk out of here.it will come sooner or later.my wife has been a real angel .i would be lost without her, she really keeps me going.
well the nurse came yesterday and removed all of staples .some of them had skin growing over them ,those are the ones that really hurt. she said that this is the last time that she will be coming so now i haver to go to the doctor and see what he has to say
the PT is hard , the first few times I was hurting , but getting better every day . I still use the walker when it starts to hurt , but am doing good with a Cain . I tried to push things and then paid the price . take it easy . glad to hear your coming along
you are right .the pt is hard for the first week and a half ,then it gets a little bit better. now i am trying to drag my right foot back until it touches the bed .that really hurts .little by little i am getting better i have been walking real great for a long time with the walker i just tried to use a cane today no one told me to .i did real good with a cane .this one where you have to drag your foot back to touch the bed rail i really hate that one , i too pushed things to far and paid the price .i am glad to hear that you are doing so good .hang in there you will be good as new in no time .i wonder how tim's wife is doing ? well keep in touch . Bob
well i am doing a lot better than before .i was using the walker a lot .the pt told me that you are doing good with the walker, next we will have you using the cane well i tried using the cane a few times and said forget it .i was doing better by not using anything .when i used the cane it seemed to me that i kept on putting my weight on the cane ,so that had to go .i have not used anything for about 2 weeks .i am going to pt 2 or 3 times a week .the last time that i saw the doctor he said that i should be doing better and that i am holding back and i have to do more and try harder .a few times i have over done it and really paid the price .every time that i go there they give me something new added on the one that really hurts (they all do) is when i am laying on my back and i have to try and slide my heel back to my butt well i had to go for pt today now monday i have to see the doctor and right after that i go down the hall for more pt well right now i have to go and try to slide my heel back to my butt i will keep in touch thanks for all the get well wishes
Keep on a truckin' with the therapy, Bob. This thread is of a great interest to me, as I need both knees done. Was going to get it done about 4 years ago but, I wanted to do recovery in VA over the Winter. Doc said no to that. So I said no too. Thinking about trying the "gel injection".
