Ok... I tried the whole "hold down the trip meter button to get the tach readout" thing. Didn't work. I think i need some clarification on it... can anybody help because im getting really tired of having to guess when to shift.
Btw... i just got my truck last wednesday. Already dropped the back two inches and got my system installed... maybe if you guys are nice to me ill get some pictures.
and also... does anybody have any info on the "air box" mod ive been hearing about. Heard in some cases its better than getting an airaid or volant etc. intake.
Air box? You mean having the filter inside an actual box? I knw Volant has one kit, like that, but its for the 4.6. I have the open version on my truck, and dig it. I have a 2000 as well, and that doesnt work for me either, cept I bought the XLT and it already had a tach.....Heh. And whats the fun in bein nice?
The Airaid, in my book, rules. Check out my gallery for pics. It has that AWSOME sucking sound whenever you step on the gas and it really adds horsepower, looks great too.
I tried the trip meter thing and I thought it was awsome that Ford has that feature. It worked perfectly for me. Maybe you should play with it some more, the truck i mean.
Thanks guys... think i will hang out for a while. )
The "air box" mod, to be a little clearer... that i've been hearing about. Some people, instead of buying a whole new intake, just cut the box or shell off of the stock air filter, so the air doesnt have to snake through all of the extra tubing. Then they buy a K&N filter or something of the sort. I heard its just as good as getting an airaid or volant or AF1... or anything equivalent to that.
and i played with the truck a little more, still couldnt get the tach to come up. It only switched between the trip meter and the odometer. Oh well... if i cant figure that out ill look for a tach that isnt real big. I dont really need a 5 inch tach... just something discreet that is readable.
Thanks,
Beau.
P.S.-- Horizon... i think i beat you out for the title of the "Young Gun"... Im 17. )
