C'mon Tom...a drive to Cali won't be that tough! Only a few thousand miles!
Truthfully, I would love to get together with some of the guys on this forum and meet up at a track on the weekend or something. We could make a drag weekend of it. Honestly though, that's a long distance...We have California, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida! I figure we could meet somewhere in the middle...like HOUSTON! Houston raceway all the way baby! Bay Town Madness ring a bell? How bout it?
In the middle, and closest to you, Sounds good to me true....Private message me or ask tom for my email. I am down, but it is hard to work around a military schedule.
And I could get to Houston in 20 hours Shouldnt be that bad getting up here!
If we're serious, I figure beginning of the year...Januaryish. By that time I'll more than likely have a Diablo chip, MAC Intake, and a Flowmaster Exhaust. I know I'll have a tach by then.
we should match up pretty good, friendly race of course....... Im down all the way, it will be a blast.........maybe ill be spraying by then............
I took the full day off of work to try and get my drive shaft balanced to compensate for the 4.10 gear change vibration.
needless to say, i've been to 3 shops, spent 160 dollars on a shaft balance, and still have the exact same drive train vibration.
Nobody knows where it's coming from, but it started right after I had Steeda do my gear change.
I'm very frustrated.
It's not ujoints, it's not unbalanced tires, it's not drive shaft balance, Steeda already re-checked their gear install, It's not shocks. No one can figure out why i get this violent vibration upon reaching 85mph.
Not to mention that the vibration is beginning to cause further damage to my transmission, they discovered.
I don't know what to do. I'm very frustraded and ticked off at my truck right now. everyone else does 4.10 gears with no problems, except me.
So far I've had a really bad weekend, I was looking forward to Monday because I thought that the shaft balance would be the fix but it was just a big waste of money.
Just a thought, but it sounds like you have already double-checked everything but the bearings (axles and pinion). It’s just a guess but you might want to have someone check them out. From my experience, pinion bearings usually last forever but I would expect a failure to cause quite a bit of violent vibration. The axle bearings usually cause a high frequency vibration that is more of a roar.
I'm dropping the truck off tonight at Steeda and having them tear the entire drive train out of the vehicle piece by piece and I told them I do not want the truck back until it is right, even if it takes them 3 months.
I know it's something they installed wrong because it's a brand new truck and this vibration started the day after they did the install.
they'll get it right sooner or later. I hate to diss on Steeda, but I won't take my truck back there again. Not only that, but I'm sure they won't want to work on my truck again either.
Sorry for the bad news Tom - that sucks hardcore! I hope Steeda fixes it up for ya! That would down right **** me off. I hope you get your truck up to speed soon and good luck!
