So, what's the word on the upgraded transmission filter (6.4 or 08-10 6.0)? I know the safe bet is Motorcraft and that it's critical for the oil and fuel filters, but are there less expensive but equally good options for that transmission filter? Motorcraft is hard to find around here except at the dealership. However, I do have time to order one online since it's so dang cold I'm not going to work on the truck for a few days.
Thanks, AK. I have the pan - it seems to be a well-kept secret here, but the deeper pan was standard on the 08-10 6.0Ls as well as the 6.4Ls. Just wondering if there was a Racor or IH filter that might be cheaper, or maybe other brands because there's nothing unique about this filter - unlike the oil filters that are patented by Ford so that off-brands require a taller cap on the filter housing.
Thx. They actually just responded to my inquiry. The filter doesnt show up on their site when I search for the OEM filter for my year/model. Turns out I had to search on 6.4L - grrr.
But good price. Just worried that it won't get here before I leave for California next week, and before it gets even colder here.

Yes, sir. If anyone is looking for a low-mileage 6.0 engine, check out the Eseries. Because they're also down tuned so much and really can't handle any performance tunes, they're generally in better shape than an Fseries engine. I was telling Jack that at some point this forum will be talking a lot about Eseries when they're most of the vehicles left running.
