Have an '04 Excursion 4WD Limited with 165K on it, SCT XR4 engine street tune/tranny tow tune, FICM Atlas 40 tune and a Roush CAI. Changed the MAP sensor plus I monitor boost pressure. Still get code. Made sure the intake manifold MAP port and the hose are clean. Changed out the MAF sensor and still get code. The code shows up after acceleration and boost pressures greater than 15 PSI. Keep acceleration boost pressure below 15 psi and no code. Clear code and no CEL until I repeat acceleration. No YouTube videos for this DTC. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

For what it's worth, my diagnostic software also lists the turbocharger hose as the second most frequent repair done to fix that DTC, although it usually throws a P0401 as well. That might coincide with it occurring during hard acceleration. When it's just the p006a by itself, the programs says a new injector is the most popular fix.
Thanks for the replies and the link. Mark did a great write up. The P006a code has popped 6 times with no other code(s). I have an analog boost gauge that shows a smooth boost pressure increase as throttle is applied. No sudden boost bursts, losses or chugs. I do have EGR delete. I have not pulled the IAT2 sensor to inspect and or clean. I replaced the MAF sensor with a new one and updated my X4 tuner. Have not got another CEL but only driven once and did not go over 15 psi boost. Will update as I progress with analysis.
I've had the same issue since I got the truck five years ago. With exception of the MAF, I've been through everything Mark suggested in that thread. Still the P006A comes and goes. I don't worry about it anymore as it doesn't seem to make any difference with performance.
One day I would like to install an earlier factory tune that doesn't infer the EBP, and from what I've read, has more power also.
IMHO an 04 flash would be better. Same processor. TBS5 or TBS6 base flashes are pretty dang good. It might be hard to get those put in with the current state of affairs at the EPA. You might look for a PCM out of a mid/late 04. I think the latest flash in my processor is a TBS9 and it works very well.

You are right about the 04 flash. I never updated the flash in my X until last year when I had a perceived corruption issue between my x4 and pcm. I believe they call it operator error. Anyway I had it reflashed with the current OEM software to be sure and then uploaded my x4 tune. Things were good but different. If I have to, I’ll just live with it.
