7.3 idi glow plug controller smoking
7.3 idi glow plug controller smoking
Hi I have a 1991 Ford F-350 with a 7.3 idi. It sat for 6 years or so and I put batteries in it and cycled the plugs and the glow plug controller was clicking rapidly. The light on the dash would turn on for about 10 seconds and go out. Then I would turn the key on again and it would stay on for 2 seconds. I changed the glow plugs and found that I had 7 bad ones I also changed the glow plug wires because some of the connectors broke. This truck has a hypermax turbo kit on it so the glow plug controller is located up front. I had to take the controller off because it and the intake tube share the same bolt holes and I had to move the intake tube to change the glow plugs. So once I did the glow plugs and wires I put it all back together. I turned on the key in the truck and the light came on for about 10 seconds and the clicking went away. But then I turned the key off and on again and the glow plug controller started smoking and the light on the dash stayed on for 10 seconds again and I don’t think the glow plugs are working. But what I’m trying to fig out is why. I think it’s smoking from the yellow wire not the ones the go from the batteries to the controller but the other yellow one.
fixed it for you
