The 99 f250 I bought was missing a bunch of stuff, the front headlight and blinker wires were cut off, there are 3 bundles of wires on each side 2 bundles have 3 wires and 1 bundle has 2 wires, one of the 3 wire bundles are for the blinker and parklamp, the other 3 wire bundle should be for the headlights, but when I wire the bulb to it the headlights and brights both do not work, the blinkers and parklight do work, I'm not sure about the taillights because I had to get a taillight harness from pick n pull and I dont have taillight bulbs yet, I'm not sure what the 2 wire bundle is for but it does get power when I turn on the headlights
Sounds like the wiring for a snow plow set up? not the regular headlights. Did the truck have a plow?
Test wires with 12v test light to see if any are active when the lights are on.
I'm pretty certain its not a snow plow setup, but the truck has been through 3 owners in its taken apart condition so I cant be 100% sure, 1 wire bundle should be for the blinker, one for the parklight and then one for the headlights, the parklight wire and one blinker wire are hot when I turn on the park light, and when I flip it to headlights they stay on but the headlight wires are not hot like they should be
The two wire bundle is for the little 194 parking light. One of the triples is for the headlight (hi/low/ground) and the other is for the parking and turn signal. Will need a test light and/or a multimeter to figure them out. Here's a picture that might help. I replaced my headlights with newer style and took a pic when there were off, hope it helps.
The 2 wire bundle for the park light is hot with the park light switched on, the 3 wire bundle for the blinker and parklight also has a hot wire with the parklight on and the blinker wire was working as it should with the blinker on, but when I flip the switch to headlights the bundle of 3 wires that should be for headlights is not hot with the headlights or brights on
If both sides are acting the same, then I would work backward to the switch. Something is either cut or disconnected. If the fuse hasn't blown then probably not a short. Electrical problems suck, they're tedious and a PITA to figure out. Sorry I don't have anything more helpful. Google for a wiring diagram maybe?
Ill go out an trace down the wires tomorrow and check my fuses again, I did blow the blinker fuse because I shorted it out, but I fixed that, maybe I did the same to the headlights and didnt realize it, I also blew the blinker relay by shorting the wires so I need a new of those now
