How bad is my rust?

I'd appreciate your thoughts on what I should do , if anything about my worst rust spots.
I'm not great with body work - I'd be farming out anything significant right now. I'd like to have 4 to 5 more years on the road before I approach any major cost or down-time, but I'd spend a few hundred bucks and a week at a body shop if that was a good approach for the time being. We're in sunny So. Cal - so pretty easy weather and roads. (Though finally raining today) Occasional 4x4 action in local mountains and deserts. Truck is parked outside.
My buddy suggested I paint the exposed stuff with POR-15 and top it with color-matched spray can.
Do I need to cut it out now, before it eats the whole truck? Can I just wait 5 years until a cab-off is a possibility?
Thanks!

You obviously live near the beach.
There’s no way to know how significant the rust is until you start cutting into the affected areas. The cab corners are pretty easy to replace but it looks like yours will have damage to the front side of the cab corner. That area will have to be fabricated.
Rust never sleeps. The longer it goes without repair, the worse it will get.
Why not take it to an old school body shop and get an estimate?

Seriously, You're in California and you are fixing rust. You live in the land of rust free stuff, just go buy another cab. I guarantee it will cost way less than fixing those drip rails.

I'll try door number 1, before I decide to swap the cab, but both thoughts well received -thanks

For now I'd clean it off as best I could, apply some rust converter, and spray can to color match.

Just to keep it light, I heard Jed Clampett tell Jethro the other day to take the truck around back and scrub it down with a brick and then douse it down with coal oil to keep it from rusting. I believe they were both in California at the time! lol

I agree. By the time you farm out the work you will pay 2 or 3 times the amount you will pay for a cab. And have more time to work on other areas. If you are doing a frame off the cab will be off anyway? Start looking now for a cab set it to the side and it's ready. Sometimes it takes years to find exactly what you are looking for. It took me 2 years to find a hood. After that my buddy had come up with a better one.
You might look at the bottom of the doors they might have rust as well, and put that on your list
