Finished the rear rebuild with these on each side: 4/1 = 5 Leaf, 2-1/4" think, 3" wide, 2810lb Per Spring Rating (not too firm actually, seem nice)
Factory over load springs on top, I think they are 800lb ea?
It is sitting a bit higher now but I have been planning to do something in the front to help with the plow.
I noticed these BDS 2-3" front add ons, here.
Anyone have other recommendations? 2-3" should be good.
Dad has something similar on his truck. It is pretty similar to yours (regular cab 350). It does not drive bad per say, but it is pretty stiff. If you want it to ride well, I would either do new springs or a shackle reversal. Granted, both are more $$ than the add a leafs, so it will depend on how you use the truck, and how you want it to ride.
if you choose new springs. Check out ATS. They are supporters here and everyone has great things to say about them
I agree that new leafs will be much better then an add a leaf option. An rsk is nice but that adds to the cost as well. The rsk bracket is about 400 and then another 400 or so for springs. The SD does has alot of options for spring weight though. My supercrew cab rides very up front with the new springs....then the rear (stock springs) hits and I feel like I've been kicked in the back of the seat.
Did a test drive this evening with the new rear end. It goes down the road better than I expected, even on these heaved ME roads. The front end is in need of some love and i agree, new springs are definitely to be considered.
I just want it to level up at least 2" higher, but also not sag too much with plow hanging off the front.
Open to and appreciate any recommendations for springs, with or w/o the RSK/
Thanks!
An rsk raises the front end by about 2" at least. They make ones with more lift up to 4" i believe. I have V code springs on my truck, alot of folks go with U code but with a plow I think you might want v or even x. They have a higher capacity and will also affect the height.
