My 78 is suffering from saggy butt so I bought a set of add-a-leaf springs from JCW. I was planning on cutting the U-bolts off, adding the spring, putting new U-bolts on and calling it good.
1. Anyone know the dimension of the U-bolts?
2. Do I have to mess w/the bolt that holds the spring pack together? I would like to avoid that if I could.
I am off to Belguim courtesy Uncle Sam for 3 years and the truck will be in storage. I am having a freind of mine who has a shop repaint it, he said he would have the springs re-arched. Problem is, I have to drive her till April and it sits level. I was hoping the JCW add a spring would be a short term fix so I could restore height and be able to put something in the back for traction.
These helper springs a bad idea even 4 short term?
You can probably still order new springs. I got new ones for my '79 when I lifted it, had a few broken leaves, from a local Truck Pro shop. It was in 1990 though.
