High Boy Rear Spring Question
Here's what I know - the springs on the truck today are from a 1967 truck (C7TA), and they are 2 1/4" wide. They have 5 leaves and it looks like one of those aftermarket helper leaves at the bottom. I know that some 1975 F250's had a 3" wide spring, but my spring mounting brackets will only fit a 2 1/2" wide spring max.
What was the original spring used on this application - width, # of leaves, etc. Also, how many blocks are standard between the spring and the axle? It looks like mine may have an extra set of "homemade" blocks.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
my 76 has 6 leaves and an over load that has the 6850 pkg new springs are still available the broken leaf believe it or not was probablet caused by the springs being to stiff not soft. if you want a decent ride go with the lighter pkg. I put the hds on my 75 it'll pound the snot outa me and my truckand makes it tuffer to drive on moderatly ruff terrain but i usually carry 1000 lbs of sand in the winter when i use my plow so i need the spring then. so IMO
unless it's gonna be a work truck a lighter sping works better
