At 10* BTDC my truck idles right at 850 RPM's and runs good. Bumping the timing up to about 11.5* to 12* the truck has much better low end response and passing response. So it is running better IMO. The issue is my idle goes to 1K and is smooth like the 850 RPM. I have no codes. What could I check or do if anything to stay with advanced timing and get the idle back to normal? Thanks Sandy
You need to check your base idle setting. With the truck idling, disconnect the IAC valve and see what is your idle speed. If it's still high, adjust the set screw on the TB to turn the idle down to about 500 rpm. Some PO may have cranked that screw up trying to adjust idle which is the IAC valve's responsibility.
While you were responding, I disconnected the IAC and nothing happened. I had an old Ford IAC from long ago and put it on and get a nice 850 idle again. I need to check my records and see when and where I got this NO NAME IAC and get it exchanged for the improved Wuhan model. Thanks jas88 I appreciate your help. Sandy
