Hello. I need your help. Please read this. I bought a 6.4 couple years ago. Already had egr and dpf delete with a tune. Not sure of the tune. Just recently was driving and acted like it was mis firing and chugging. Thought may e it was gelling. Got home in heated garage for 3 hours with no results. Had a tuner from old truck I put on. Worked great for 1 1/2 days. Then same problems. Took tuner out and now no start no crank. Put tuner back on and will crank and start but now acts like a 6.0 that has been in -5 temps without being plugged in. Tuner did have up to 6 codes in it before I put my tuner. When it started to act up, only had one code. I don't recall any of the codes. Dealership is saying motor is shot. Would like to know your thoughts, Please help!!
2010. It was approximately 5 out when I started acting up. Let it set in heated garage for 3 hours with no change. Installed my tuner and started and ran great for day or so, then started running crappy again. 140,000 on it. Had it for close to 3 years without any issues. When it does start, no codes will pop up. When it did have codes, was 7 in it I believe before I put my tuner in. Can't see all of a sudden that many issues at once. Thinking pcm ?
Well, if you took the tuner out and it was deleted you will get codes. That being said if the truck acted up then started running fine and acting up again I doubt motor is shot. Look at possible fuel pump, fuel filters, or water/ice blocking fuel lines. Get it back inside, let it warm up for 24 hours and then try again. If it runs OK then it most likely is a fuel issue.
