So, what's the verdict: Can you, or can you not detect if a tuner was used (other than injector spray patterns on the pistons) if the batteries are disconnected, etc, prior to service? Paranoid minds want to know... PM me if you don't want it public.

Bowtie,
This was just a question. If the dealer figures it out then I will have one of my mechanics at my shop fix it. My mechanics keep a fleet of 12 International dump truck running + two Cummins in my semi's so I will get it fixed. I just figured Ford could fix it if they would. You are giving the dealership mechanics way more credit for brains then they deserve. My friends 06 has been in the shop three times in the last two weeks. Everytime it comes out the CEL comes back on in the first 15 miles. Then they say they have no idea how that happened. So he calls our friend who owns the dealership this time and they had a whole new attitude towardes him and his truck. Maybe with the added pressure they can figure it out. So I don't really have much confidence in the mechanics unless they have been there for a long time and have some in the field experience. Book experience gets you now where other then they probably change the oil much neater then my 15 year old does. I am obviously going to a different dealer who deals in more trucks. I would perfer to go to the International dealership. But all else fails we will do it in house
