I have seen posts about adding LED Cargo Lamps when none installed. I am interested in anyone who has added additional LED lamps to the existing Cargo Lamps circuit to install additional Cargo Lamps in the forward position of the bed. I have the swing out tool boxes installed and they defeat the purpose of the Cargo Lights unless you swing them open. Looking for an option to add more lighting forward of the swing out tool boxes. Thanks
Get some cheap replacement LED cargo lights for your 3rd brake light fixture. Got some off Amazon for like $20 for my work truck. They are really bright, will blind you. Do the reverse lights too.
I assume this is an XL- lariat without LED, dont know if they work where LED comes out.
Sorry, it is for a Lariat with LED. My issue is IO have a cover over the bed so the 3rd light does not help unless it is open. I want to mount some extra lights up front under the bed rail so I can see with the cover closed. I want to tap off the Cargo Light switch circuit but not sure if the electronic module will sense additional current as an issue and shutdown the circuit. I guess I could test without mounting and see what happens. Just wondered if anyone had already done it. Thanis1
I can't remember for sure, but I feel like at one point I saw a post about someone who tried to tap into the existing bed lights to add more and found that they run at a weird voltage. If that's your plan, you may just want to double check the voltage of the existing lights before you go buy anything.

I agree, pretty sure the bed light circuit runs on either 4 or 6 volts, not 12.
It is Possible to add Cargo Lighting. Lighting runs off 12 volt Output from Body Control Module (BCM). BCM Bed Lighting will need to be enabled using Forscan. 726-57-01 Coding : 0300 0000 0088 = Disabled Bed Lighting. 0300 0001 0089 = Bed Lighting Enabled. Connector to hook Lighting up to is White 12 Pin (C405) located on R/R Frame Rail next to Spare Tire (on my 2017 XLT). White wire is Power from BCM out to Lighting (Circuit # CLN06). You need to add your own Ground to what ever Lights you use. Chassis ground is located on L/R Frame rail near Spare Tire on my Truck. (easier to access with Tire Removed) To turn on and off like Factory Lighting you need to add a switch and Momentary Ground to White with Blue Tracer in Same White Connector (C405) on R/R Frame Rail. Circuit # is CLN13. Momentary Ground Toggles Bed Lighting On then Off Through BCM.Use of a Voltmeter and Not a Test Light is Safest Wat to Verify Power and Ground. A note to help verify/ identify proper wire to attach ground -- if you add a Momentary Ground to White Connector (C405 Pin #4) White with Blue Tracer -- your Cargo Light should cycle on and off each Time you Add Ground. You Can Do this Before Adding or Using Forscan on Truck.(That Circuit is same circuit used at Headlight Switch to Cycle Cargo Light On and Off.). After Forscan Enable of Bedlighting -- Volt Meter can be used to Verify Power Output to Bed Lighting Circuit. Add What Ever Lighting you want to White Wire -- I used Led Tape On Strip Lighting , Works Great. Hope it Helps and Makes Sense to You.
