I used two sets of dual 12" white cathode light kits for computers.
This looks like an ingenious approach. I have two concerns with it, though. First is that the lights don't look like they are designed for an outdoors environment. (My truck lives outside.) So I'd be concerned with shorts and corrosion over time.
The second is that they might be a bit fragile for a truck bed. I don't haul *that* much, and I could probably avoid banging them myself, but other people loading stuff in the bed tend to be less careful. YMMV.
