I have a 94 7.3idi turbo with 242,000 mi. I am getting diesel fuel in the engine oil. I replace the fuel pump and the injector pump sr
till getting fuel in oil. Don't know what else. It could be. Runs fine and idles smooth.
If it were mine, I'd back track to the mechanical fuel pump and verify there is not an internal leak before looking at a leaking seal in the IP.... There are just not that many places for cross contamination. A little bit of dye can go a long way.
The mechanical fuel pump on my 6.9l failed and pumped diesel fuel into the crankcase. It was a fast enough leak that I drained the oil, dropped the oil filter and added new oil and the level was high on the dipstick after a 10 mile drive. After I replaced the mechanical fuel pump the problem was fixed.
