Vehicle security module
I just got my 2001 F-250 super duty back from the dealer and I was told it needed a vehicle security module. I ordered the module for $150.00. Im going to replace it myself and then bring it back to the dealer to have it programed rather than pay the dealer $700.00 to do it. I know where the module is but I was hoping someone could tell me the easiest way to access it rather than going into this project blind? If there is anything else I might need to know before I get started so I dont create a bigger problem?

The procedure for programming requires the old module be installed to start with then the new installed. Basically they pull data from the old then flash to the new. There are other ways to do it, but this is the standard procedure.

It's behind the middle section of the lower dash. Pull the little hanger under the ashtray, pull the ashtray. Slide the radio out and pull the dash just enough to acces the bolts behind it. There are two on top and two below from memory. Once you have the panel out of the way, it's aganst the firewall.
