Changed my oil for the second time using the Ronin drain plug. Turned the golden aluminum drain cap and had 6 gallons of used hot oil on the garage floor in about 5 seconds. It had been six months or so since the last oil change. I know I should have verified that the plastic drain valve body wasn't turning with the cap but it was dark under the truck and I didn't notice it until I saw the belleville washer, then all hell broke loose. What a mess. The OEM plug is not the best solution but the Ronon is a pain in the A$$. You can buy replacement OEM style with 3/8" socket to use an extension and that is what I will be doing from now on.
Yeah, I like the Fumoto. It is a little slow at draining, the one on my Ram was fast just like pulling the regular drain plug, but with about 12" of hose I point it right into the drain tub and never spill a drop. I've even gotten changing the filter down to where I don't make a mess. Oh how 20 oil changes finally makes things come together!

Fumoto is the way to go if you have threads. I even have them in the rear block drains on my 6.0L diesel so I don't have to remove the starter just to flush the block.
Fumoto does not yet make a valve for those of us cursed with the yellow plastic drain plug.
I just installed my Ronin plug and I'll be extra careful with the first oil change to make sure it doesn't drain until the drain tube is plugged in. Is the problem that you had that the whole Ronin plug assembly unscrewed from the oil pan when the insert was screwed in? Or was there some sort of problem with the initial installation of the Ronin plug?
