Whats a quik release drain plug? At 5000 every oil change I couldnt see the need for one. You would still have to go under the truck. I cant picture it to help not get oil on your hands cause I barely get any on mine. Not sure what it is......
well I would really like to do it every 2500 miles or 3 months.
A quick release drain valve means you don't have to unscrew the drain plug, you flip a lever instead and the oil pours out. I think your are less likely to get oil on you but the main benefit is that it is quicker and easier.
under normal driving conditions those intervels would be over kill but if thats what you want to do than its your $. The new oil formulas don't require you to change the oil that often. I've looked at my oil after changing it at 5000 miles and it was still a bit brown and was still a bit thick. In my older cars with regular oil at 3000miles the oil was black and watery. I'm not sure if I would trust some kind of flip lever for my drain plug. oil cleans up pretty easy from my hands with a rag and plus even if I used a flip cap (lol) I would still get dirty wipeing the area after the oil drains.
Last night I ordered a fumoto F107 engine oil drain valve for my V6 24 valve ford escape xlt. I guess I'll be first to post about how it works with my escape.
