Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Uhh... where am I?
Oh, Hi, folks... been a while
(Various bits of news and what-not

Picked up a free 8' canopy for my old truck, had to drive into Napa's back country to get it. I told them "If I hear banjos playing, I'm going to turn around and run". Got it home, removed one window, fixed it, re-installed it; primered and painted it (the metalflake blue was pretty, but didn't match my truck).. it's been buffed out, but needs some more; I also want to coat the new paint with a clear coat or two, and the metal trim around the windows needs to be repainted. Had two new keys made for the latch on the back door. This stuff seems expensive for a "free" item. Hopefully, it'll last for ten years or more. Once it's all done, I should be able to sleep back there (the homemade 'tonneau' wouldn't let me roll over and wasn't much protection against the rain).
I did some things to the top edge of the bed of the truck, to make it ready for the canopy. I used some naval jelly, then sprayed some primer and painted it (same color as the canopy). That part of the truck is the cleanest the truck's been in 10 years or so; it hasn't been washed since it got it's major rebuilds in 2011.
My kid's working again. He quit his security job in S.F. three days before the 'shelter in place' lockdown started. He's been stuck at home, broke with no unemployment. Unfortunately, his new job is in San Jose, and he doesn't have a license, so I've been driving him in the Toyota (the wife's commutermobile - she doesn't need it, she's now working by remote from our living room). I've been putting more than 1,100 miles a week onto that car.
I'm legitimately a "Senior Citizen" now - registered with Social Security and all. I've given up my membership in the Hacker's Guilde, and now I want to join the Old Codgers' Club. Actually, I did just re-join the MGSCV, in Hayward ("MGSCV.org"). I was their "Tuesday Guy" for years and kept the shop open for members that wanted to use it, but quit that when we moved to Lafayette. I'm hoping I can get regular access to their shop, so I can cut and polish some rocks that have been patiently waiting on my "to do" list. I've got some turquoise, some obsidian, some opal and some other things to work on. I seem to collect rocks the way some arteries collect plaque. Hopefully, I'll be able to make them into some nice jewelry.
I've noticed that adding distance between people isn't "social", it's "anti-social". "Social Distancing" is Orwellian double-speak. Why don't they use the correct term? I've been calling it my "personal safety buffer".
This shelter-in-place has been making me goofy. I saw my wife sitting at the bar in our kitchen the other night, and I used a pick-up line on her. It didn't work - she gave me a fake phone number! What's up with that?!? (I told my son that story, and he said "I can see you doing that"... and my wife said "I can see me doing that, too!")
I feel bad for the cops... they've been having to yell things like "Come out with your hands washed!". They had a bad time of it at the Nude Beach last weekend. They had to keep telling the sun bathers "No, you can't use the beach unless you're wearing a MASK!".
At least the air quality is better now. There was so much smoke in the air up on our hill that even the RACCOONS were wearing masks!
Best of the Holidays to you all.
It seems like most of my experimental cooking ends up with "Ok, scratch that idea..."
