I’ll be waiting on it due to my allergies and he fact that every time I get a flu shot, I get the flu.

it’s raining here tonight and expecting snow on the passes. A good time to stay indoors and get caught up on paperwork.

Supposed to rain all day tomorrow here. I have never gotten the flu from a flu shot, but I have known people who did.

You can not get the flu from a flu shot. It doesn't have a live virus. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are even safer, as there is no part of any virus in it. It is kind of like an Instagram post with a recipe for your body to make it's own antigen. Really a clever concept.

BTW - The best meats to slow cook are almost any meat with a lot of fat content. Meats like chicken and turkey do not slow cook very well because (except for dark meat) don't have much fat. We slow-smoked some pheasant late last year, and while it was tasty (because of the smoke), it was pretty dry because of the low fat content.

94% is well worth it for me. Some people's standards are just way too high.

As expected, there have already been negative reactions to the Covid vaccine. I heard that the strategy was that with 94.5% efficacy, we need at least 80% of the population to be vaccinated. That doesn't mean the virus will completely go away. But it will allow healthcare workers an advantage in battling the spread of the virus. Survival of the fittest. Quite Darwinian. Some will take a vaccine, and be in the 5.5% where it doesn't work as planned. Some will refuse to take it, and take their chances with catching the vaccine. Some celebrity like Jenny McCarthy will take a stand against the vaccine. People who believe in celebrities over science will form a community of ant-vaxxers. Some people will decide to relocate to isolated places where infection rates are extremely low, and hope that they can minimize their exposure to infection. I'm only guessing that tropical islands in The South Pacific may have lower Covid infection rates. Or you could be safe in The Bahamas. I enjoy Chinatown way too much to leave, so that's not an option for me.

I used apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. The vinegar sort of broke down the meat to a point where it was unbelievably soft. It also sort of took away the flavor of the meat. I ate beef that did not have the texture of beef, and it tasted like apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Almost like eating the Filipino adobo dish. It doesn't matter if you use chicken or pork. It's all kind of mushy, and doesn't tasted like chicken or pork. Every mouthful taste like vinegar, soy sauce, peppercorns, and bay leaf. Or the way my ex used to bake chicken with Coca Cola, say sauce, and pineapple. Maybe I'll stay away from sauces and marinades. I enjoy the beefy flavor of beef.

And some will get vaccinated, and continue to live in their Fresno man cave without issue.

I’ll be honest, it may not have been the flu, but a lot of the flu like symptoms. Fever, nausea, headache.. in all a poor to bad experience each time.

On a lighter note Today was awesome with a crystal clear sky and moderate temperatures, too bad I was teaching for most of the day and cooped up inside. Went to pick up my new glasses (bifocals, ugh) and found that the passenger side rear fender liner had come loose on my F250. A good thing that O’Rilley’s shares the parking lot with my optometrist. They also had an LED flasher in stock for less than what I was finding on Amazon.

I hear that is a sign of the vaccine working. Your body is reacting to the vaccine, and developing what it needs to fight a real flu.

But as most often the case, I'm probably wrong.

Now that's interesting. It's usually the other way around. At least for me. I have found that auto parts stores had the highest mark-up, and that Amazon sometimes has auto parts for way less. I just bought spark plugs on Amazon for about $9 per 4 pack. O'Reilly's down the block, where the store manager is a friend, sells at $7.99 per spark plug. Autolite offered a $3 rebate per spark plug. So Autolite sent me a $12 rebate for the $9 spark plugs, times 2. Amazon also had Denso spark plug wires for $12. I have heard that OEM Ford Motorcraft parts were made by Denso, Autolite, etc.

When I installed LED lights on my truck, I needed a LED flasher relay. An EP-27 . It replaced the OEM flasher relay.

If I can't wait for a part to arrive with Amazon shipping, like something I need right at that moment. I try to buy from a parts distributor. Around here, the brand name chain stores have huge mark-ups on the retail customers. Shops tend to use distributors who charge a little less. And in some cases, when you try to buy from a retail store, they call a distributor to get the part to sell to you. If you go to the parts distributors directly, most will sell to you as a COD order or "cash sale". Once in awhile, you can even haggle the pricing.

The flu vaccine is frequently not a good match to the particular strain that is circulating in one area or another. The flu virus is tough because it mutates so rapidly. That said, it is often "close enough" to reduce the symptoms for strains that are not too far off.

This article says that if we get between 60% and 80% vaccinated, we can get close to herd immunity. I will also point out that now that we've had 17,000,000 confirmed infections, that is close to 5%. If that number is off by a factor of 2, then maybe (MAYBE) we've already seen 10% infected. This will affect the top-line number as well.
