Missing keys

Hey folks, need some help. We just discovered that we're missing both keys to our 95 f250. How do we go about removing it without the key?

If you are referring to the lock cylinder, you have to drill out the button on the bottom. It's aluminum so easy to drill out, relatively speaking.

Once you drill out the little button, is there any way to replace it, and will the new ignition cylinder slide out of place without it?

The little button is part of the lock cylinder. Your new cylinder will have the button on it so it is not an issue.

That's great! I was worried I was going to have to drill out the main part of the cylinder. This should be much easier. Thanks for the help!

Just bear in mind the new lock cylinder will NOT be the same key as the door locks.

Yeah, we had all of the keys together as we had already replaced it once. We were planning on selling the truck until I replaced the heater core.

That little button is hardened steel. Not so easy to drill out

You are going to have to drill out the main part of the cylinder. It's aluminum, with brass pins. 1/2" bit will do nicely. Rotate the cylinder once the tumblers are drilled out and depress the pin. Lots of Youtube videos out there.

I drilled the pin out on my '94, as it didn't have any keys when I bought it. If the pin was hardened, it was the softest hardened pin I've ever put a drill bit to. Or perhaps it was aftermarket and didn't have a hardened pin to begin with? Not sure I guess.

Had a similar situation. I can say that a large screwdriver in the keyhole, turned with force, can also break the little lock pins. Unfortunately, when I did that, it also jammed up something else important, but I was successful removing the lock at that point. It was still a piece of work to get it out, and I had to deal with that other broken thing. It's been too long to remember the details, except that I do not recommend this method.
