I am new at this so bear with me. I have just tryed to replace an old lock cylinder with a new one but when I tryed to remove the new key it would not come out. The old cylinder was bad, you could strart the truck without the key . Any one with any ideas? Thank You
Hmmm
I've never had that happen.
All I can think of is that the key was turned 180* when you put it in the column, so it won't let key out. I know this was a while ago, but remove the cylinder and check it. The key should come out one way and not the other. Turn the key in the cylinder until it comes out, then insert it into column and turn ahead until it locks in place. Should be good to go.
I just put a cylinder in a Ranger and its key didn't want to come out of the cylinder very easily. I just worked it back and forth several times, gently pulling on the key, and when I finally got the key out I put a coating of grease on it and cycled the sequence a few times. It seems to be loosening with use. You can see on the lock cylinder where the chime pin makes contact; this is where off/lock position is, you shouldn't be able to pull the key in any other position so don't bother trying. I wouldn't fault anybody for this not making sense. I might try to find a picture to help explain.
