95 f 150, how can i get the key lock out and start the truck with a screwdriver? The key broke, but not in ignition. Im stranded need a quick easy fix guys!!! PLEASE
pry off the chrome butterfly, and then you drill out the area where the key goes. dont go too deep. You pick the pins out and get the lock cylinder to turn , once turned to the on position, depress the small hole area directly under the lock cylinder from below. When depressed remove the cylinder, and install the replacement. Ive seen vehicles with the keys still in them at the pick a part yards sometimes. You might get lucky and get a used one.
I appreciate it. Sure thought there would be an eaiser way to get a screwdriver in there!! Looks like I'll be buyin a new lock & key. Now, to drill it right to get it out!!
If they key just broke off at the head, I suppose you could just put the teeth portion into the cylinder and mash it down with a flat head until it turns.
Yes very clever! Thank you! Although I believe my g-pa gave me the wrong spare key, that's how it broke in the first place. It started it all evening though. Pulled up to get gas, turned it off, it wouldn't turn back over. Before it broke at the base of the key, it would turn back to acc. That's why i figured i could pop it out & use a screwdriver! Without drilling!!
