Hi Guys,
I was looking to buy an original 65 Operators manual. The guy that has it has it because his dad owned the truck and had his dads signature in it (sentimental reasons for keeping) . He is willing to sell it to me but wants me to make him an offer. What would a fair offer be. I know what the reproductions cost, but the originals i have found the price is way skewed I have found them for $15 sold to $75. Below is a picture he sent me. Any recommendations on what I should offer him?
Thanks
I'd say offer him whatever the cost for the repop books are. He needs to understand that separating the truck and the book isn't a big deal to you but if he ever wants them both back well.....
$20 to $25 would be about right? More than fair. If it was a Corvette or T-Bird or something super collectable that might be different. "Ephemera" can be really spendy, sometimes. But a '65 pickup isn't ... a T-Bird. Nome Sayin? Repros are $15
I have both the original, and a repop. They are identical to me, I would certainly not pay a premium for the original unless it had belonged to a father, grandfather, etc.
The original for my '66 has the owner's name and address, the dealers name and address, and the agents name, in it. Neat to have, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.
There is obviously NO sentimental value to him, or it wouldn't be for sale. If that were mine you'd have to pry it out of my dead hands. IT's worth 15-20 bux. And doesn't mean anything to you either, wasn't your father.
