I sold my Excursion 2 years ago, and the new owner is asking questions that i hope someone here can answer.
He didn't listen to me about watching all the gauges and let her overheat
Hopefully you guys can point him in the right direction, thanks in advance. After a 16 week wait, my new Kill Devil Diesel long block engine fiiiiiinally arrived last week.
I am researching the best aftermarket injector brand, but I’m not getting consistent info as to who makes the best, most reliable one. I’m looking at going with a 155 cc/stock size nozzle.
Warren injectors get a lot of recognition, but I’ve also read a number of bad reviews. I read somewhere that they are the best option for the 6.0 Powerstroke. Their premium line has a 2 year (parts only) warranty. Warren offers custom tunes as well.
Holders premium line is significantly more expensive, but they have a 3 year (parts only warranty). They claim their injectors have more new parts than their competitors. Holders does not offer custom tuning, but they recommend Gear Head tuning for their injectors.
Gear Head tuning actually recommended Full Force brand injectors, but they only have a 1 year warranty. They don’t sell them, they just said they’ve had the best luck with them.
There’s a small part of me that’s questioning if I should just purchase a new set OEM injectors. They seem to have the best reviews & come with a 2 year parts AND labor warranty.
Good timing on this thread! I have recently been looking around for a recent/updated injector thread and had the same questions. My plan was to go 155/0 for my 6.0 as well but the cost of reliable injectors is scaring me into having to make this purchase sometime next year (or later). That being said from what I have seen most of the "reputable" businesses (ones with the least mount of issues) that build these injectors are using "new" reman OEM injectors and get the best results, but also are the most expensive. I mean it does make sense if you think about it in terms of cost: OEM (Allian Power) injectors roughly $1500-$1600, then they get sent to Full Force / Holders (Premium) for the "updates" (new parts and what-not). If you take into account the cost of parts added, machine work, labor, warranty, etc. looks like $1800-$2500 is not to far out from why they cost so much.
I just replaced #4 on my truck with a new injector from Accurate Diesel. It seems to be working fine, $239.95 + $50.00 core. I had tried 4 ebay rebuilts a couple of years ago and #4 bit the dust. If I have to replace any more it will definitely be new injectors, not rebuilt.
Good Luck!
