I have a 2005 f350. I had 2 bad injectors. I’m in the process of swapping in some rebuilt injectors. But when I got valve covers off it was obvious that I have a 2003 motor. I’ve had the trucks since it had 262000 (currently 285000).
I found a great deal on. 2011 with a 6.7 so I’m going to sell the 6.0 once I have it back together. But even though I’m selling it I’d still like to do any necessary maintenance while I have it open. Currently I have swapped the injectors and glow plots and have new valve cover gaskets.
Heck of a process. I dropped a torx bit down the back oil passage. I threw a pretty big fit. But I did end up with some new toys ,scope camera, new battery charger (smashed the old one with hammer after 3 hours with a magnet trying to get the bit out of the oil pan) and a newer 6.7 rig.
But after paying all my stupid tax I’d like to finish this and sell it knowing I did it right. Any upgrades you guys recommend before I put it back together ? Thanks!
Nothing really there that's not a "if it's not broke don't fix it" part, other than the standpipes, which don't even really fail that often, it's more often the dummy plugs, IIRC. I'd just do the customary clean-up work you do if you were going to keep it - wiping down surfaces, removing grease/oil, etc. It's amazing how nice you can make the engines look even if they got a lot of miles. Make sure you got a stock Motorcraft filter and cap. Clean up the air intake, turbo blades, and vent tube. As a buyer, I'd want to see ELC coolant in the bottle too. 3-4 cans of spray degreaser and a roll of towels oughta do it.
