Problem, maybe, maybe not........ But it was factory built with two full length leaves on each side of the front suspension. Yours has been altered from that along with the front bags, very unique for sure.
Well, I sent an email to Junior today for suspension. He said he would call me tomorrow. Didn't want to do suspension until Feb. Looks like safety is an issue so bumped up to number 1.
it looks exactly the way it should for a bagged setup. other then the rust, nothing should ever look like that, I had to turn away before my head exploded.
the idea when adding a air spring to a leaf spring suspension is to remove some spring rate provided by the leafs, then only add just enough air to the air spring to give you the appropriate spring rate for the payload you have at the moment.
if you added a air spring without removing a leaf you would be over sprung as soon as you added any air since the leaf is already providing the maximum spring rate for the vehicles GVWR
the whole idea if a air suspension is to only use as much spring rate as needed for the payload, this is why an air suspension rides better then any leaf or coil sprung suspension as they have a fixed spring rate.
Yes, the rustyness needs fixed. Not on the agenda for now. I don't have access to a lift to pull the body off. Just moved to a new city and need new contacts.
Hoping this Junior dude can utilize the bags in accomplishing my end game. If not..ebay!
So for the front, why can't you run less pressure to get a decent ride. With only one steel leaf and the air bag, if you don't raise the ride height much above stock it might ride OK with new shocks. What are you trying to accomplish? I got confused with why you want to change the suspension. I think Pirate would be the guy to help you make what you have into what you want.
If you're just wanting 33's you can run at the stock ride height. It seems the rough ride was do to the high pressure in the bags lifting it above stock height
@Lance - I used to own a very capable 3/4 ton truck. I would like the capabilities of this vehicle increased from 2001 standards to sometime in the next decade. Also, would like to add a little bling, of course.
Found an awesome little place here in town to do-it-yourself. 10k lift, torches, welders, impact tools, anything you need. Very reasonable rent on bays and lifts.
I have a quote from Junior. Pulling the trigger on xcode/modified ccode, bilstien 5100s, adjustable trackbar.

!
sorry to burst your bubble but the Xcode/mod C Holstein setup is not even last decade standards, that is 20 year old junk yard technology we used back in the day because that was all that was available.
if you wanted next decade technology in your suspension you missed by a long shot.
