Sorry, I do understand your frustrations. All functions on a new truck should work like they are supposed to. Especially for what they cost. I've just seen it a lot lately across multiple forums (not just trucks) where someone has something they bought new, have an issue, and have something against taking it to a dealer to have the issue documented/fixed on the company's dime. They get into it themselves, spend weeks chasing an issue, and cuss the brand without giving them an opportunity to fix it. Sometimes there's trust issues with a dealer or the dealer is a long way away and I get people trying to fix it on their own in that case.
What you're describing sounds like a bad sensor to me too. If a system is working fine then all of a sudden it's not, there's usually something that failed/got dirty/plugged up as a root cause. Based on what you've experienced I think making a sensitivity adjustment if it was available would just be a band-aid for the real issue.

Thanks for the response. I have no issue taking it to the dealer, I just wanted to get a feel from other owner's if they've experienced anything like it. Get other people's input before I go crying to a dealership. Maybe there was a buried setting somewhere I couldn't find, that sort of thing.
I'll probably just wait for it's first service call. I now have three issues: the sensitivity thing, Ford Sync3 issues, and the rear AC vents I think one of the ducts is loose. One vent blows out air, the other is way lower and my center console storage get's extremely cold (or hot) when the system is running.
The last place I want to take my truck is to a dealer. Hell, I wish I could have even bought it without having to involve the dealer. Even the way they fix re-call repairs is ridiculous, but we can blame Ford itself for that.
Only way the dealer will ever see my truck again is if it's for something major that I can't fix myself.

I bought a 2007 Nissan Titan without ever seeing the dealer. I bought it brand new, with 8 miles on the odometer, through an auto broker. Easiest auto purchase I had ever made. No negotiating, he did that for me. It ended up being invoice + his $300 fee mines any rebates.
With regard to the headlights, mine work fine. The auto high beam works great too. No aftermarket tint on any of the windows.
Its only been doing it the past couple of weeks. I had the windows tinted the day after I bought it in August. So it’s a fairly new problem. If it were detecting UV light it would’ve been happening on day one as I have ceramic tint which blocks 99% of UV light.
So, I've had my truck since October, front windshield tinted with basically clear uv tint since the 2nd day I had it and it started doing this exact same issue yesterday. I remembered reading this thread either just before or after getting my truck and now it's happening to me, with just over 3000 miles. Did you ever get this resolved?

I haven't yet. I'm just now due for my first service call so I'm going to ask them about it.
What's weird, is in the past couple of weeks we've had some overcast/cloudy days and there is no issue with the lights. They don't automatically turn on and the sensor doesn't seem bothered. You can't tell me that it's darker on a bright sunny day when there's a shadow on the dash than on a cloudy day. It's been extremely frustrating.
Hopefully I'll know more soon. I'll keep you posted.
After the very first night drive, I turned off Auto headlights........gave me blurred vision and couldn't pronounce words that started with the letter R for couple of days. 😏

I drove my truck all day yesterday and it didn't do it once. I've only noticed it twice, both times were late afternoon when the sun wasn't directly about, but still very bright out. I guess I'll see if it keeps up.
So today it's been cloudy with just barely any sun peaking through, drove around a lot today and the lights stayed off all day. So it's almost like the sensor adjusts continuously or something. It wasn't bright enough to cast shadows on the dash, was just a constant level of light no matter what direction I drove. Wasn't dark like a rainy day, just a cloud day.
