I'll be replacing timing chain, tensioners, and guides next week on 04 Ford Explorer 4.6L, V8, 2v.....
QUESTION: should I replace oil pump?
Note: Engine has 204K miles on it. Doesn't burn or use oil. Currently it has no error codes about oil pressure.
My concern is: since I'm replacing chains, etc, the oil pump is right behind them and easy to replace. Should I replace it, OR am I just asking for problems by installing a new oil pump on an old engine (will it cause the engine to burn oil with upgraded pressure)?
