I picked up the NAPA master cylinder today. I think the bore is 1" and not 1-1/16" like the old master cylinders. However, this master cylinder does have the residual check valve installed inside the outlet port. It also seems like it has some sort of dark grey phosphate coating on it. I was going to paint it with a cast iron grey paint anyway. Lastly, as with all other parts, no longer made in USA but made in Taiwan. I'll use this master cylinder and return the MF master cylinder.
I did notice that MF sells master cylinder rebuilt kits and the pictures indicate the residual check valve is included. What those kits fit, 1-1/16" bore or 1" bore is anybody's guess.
Hi Allen,
According to the specifications link on the webpage that NAPA has for that master cylinder, it is 1-1/16. So you should be good. I think you made a good choice. Mine has been going for 5 years. I made a mistake before installing mine. I didn't bench bleed it. I ended up doing it in the truck before connecting all the brake lines.

I'd have to disassemble it to check the bore diameter. Like I mentioned, I'll use this NAPA master cylinder because it's at least built correct for drum brakes.
My new Raybestos arrived today. I thought I'd take the time to compare the MC that came off the truck with both the Raybestos and "Mid-Fifty" MCs. I split the info across 3 posts to avoid confusion. We'll start here with he original MC.
The original MC as removed from truck
The measured Piston bore is ~1.9"
On the hydraulic output side, some structure is visible (should be a pressure hold check valve). I measured the depth from the outside of the casting to the top of the structure to be ~1.625"
Very noticeable is the black finish. Some sort coating has been applied.
The MC14019 and the box it came in View of the piston bore end Measures 1.20" diameter The hydraulic output end. The "structure" in there is 1.65" down from the threaded end of the casting
I just rebuilt my MC recently, and if 56 MC's are made the same way, measuring the bore outside the snap ring is not the same as the actual piston bore. The bore at the end is larger. For the small difference between a 1" and a 1-1/6" bore, that dimension could actually be the same on both. If you want to pull the snap ring, measuring the bore or the piston would be the most accurate.

That Raybestos MC is identical to the MC I purchased from NAPA, even the part number. Only difference is a NAPA box as opposed to a Raybestos box. Yes, that's the residual check valve visible inside the outlet port.
My father have a 1956 Ford F350. We are trying to put in a new Brake Master Cylinder MCA14021 and we are stuck how to do. If anyone know how to do it pls inform me to how to do it?
