I am moving my master cylinder to the firewall. Anyone here done this also? Can you give me directions how to run new brake lines? My plan is just mount a dual master cylinder and not run with power booster. I will eventually put disc brakes on the front. I was wondering if I can use a master cylinder that is for disc with drums? What size bore should be used? Pictures please
You can use the master but you'll need a proportioning valve for your setup. The firewall is also made of tinfoil and will need substantial re-enforcing to the dash and/or steering column.
I fabbed my own bracket on my 49. I fabbed my own hanging pedal bracket that tied the firewall, dash, and steering column all together. I can't remember what size master cylinder I used. I think it was for a mid 80's full sized Caddy (but then again, I'm also running a power booster). I plumbed in a proportioning valve from a mid sized GM vehicle (72 Cutlass....its what I had) and it all seems to work fine.
Im in the process of doing a firewall mounted master and booster right now, Its pretty straight forward, I had to jockey a few things under the dash but it wasn't a big deal. A few weeks back I started a Mustang II install so I had brake lines to fab up anyway . I figured now is the time to do it with the front cap being off, frame rails exposed and the motor out of the way. Yesterday I pulled the under floor manual master, bracket and pedal, no looking back now. Ive thought about power brakes for a while now, so I figured this was a good time. I originally thought of doing what Bobby did but ended up purchasing a universal kit from Pirate Jack Brakes in Asheville N.C. Then cut and welded the bracket to adapt to my needs. Steve and Eric were very helpful and were able to answer all my pre purchase questions.
I was hoping with a name like Pirate Jack id receive a bottle of rum with my purchase, but no such luck.
Don't know if this will help. Here is a pic of my setup. Just eliminate the booster.
I am using the CPP bracket & peddle assy.
I don't think you can use a disc proportionate valve with disc brakes.

I’m looking to do the same thing, but when I went to ccp site didn’t have much luck navigating to find the firewall set up. If you have the part numbers handy maybe I’ll have better luck.
Thanks
Joe
What engine setup ? I ran into issues with mine for multiple reasons but ended up with the booster on the left side of the steering column to make room for my 351 w .
