Firewall mounted master cylinder

Sorry this may be duplicating another post I put out here but I could not find it. I need to know what master cylinder to use on my 53 f100 firewall. I am running drum brakes all around.

Before I upgraded to power brakes I used a duel master cylinder from a late 60's Mustang,

I installed a firewall master brake cyinder/booster from CPP. I think I bought it from POL.com, but know midfifty had it also.
not sure if you are looking for a used setup, but I can say the CPP is a nice setup on the inside. Stout, and easy to install.

you can order the proportion valve for 4x drum setup. I am running disk in the front.

So I am thinking about going with booster/Master cylinder. But as I said, right now I will be running drum/drum. Does a booster give you anything? When I do switch to disc, will the same booster work with disc/drum master? With drum/drum do I need porportioning valve?

The booster will give you assistance for pressing the brake pedal... meaning it is easier to apply the brakes.
The same booster works for disk or drum brakes.
Yes you need a proportioning valve for drum/drum brakes also. It is a different proportioning valve for drum/drum than the one for disk/drum.

The booster will aid your driving experience in that the braking effort will be more like we're used to in our daily drivers. We've become accustomed to using light pressure on the brake pedal, and jumping in the old truck with manual brakes is a whole different animal. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just be aware when you pull up to the stop sign for the first time, you've got to brake like you mean it, and it may take a little getting used to. Then remember that again when you jump back in the daily driver and press down on the brakes and put your passengers through the windshield.

That reminds me of this but just the opposite: After driving lumber delivery trucks all day, F600's and F700's and equally sized Internationals or an old Reo, at the end of the day at 5:00 I'd jump into my 62 Corvair. Working the clutch and brake took some getting used to!

I used the CPP MPCV-1, its a pretty nice setup but mine is mounted under the frame ( I wish I woulda spent the money on the Under Dash/Hood mount but that was early on and I didnt know about it, or was too cheap to buy it, I cant remember). Its a pretty nice setup, all the VALVES are built in, Stop light.

It might only be for the Disc/Drum or Disc/Disc though.

Firewall mount

Got mine at Mid fifties SUPER unit correct valve body installed---- Always used the frame mount units in my last 3 builds ( THIS unit puts them to shame) -- the only problem is the pedal is a little high, I think the price is real reasonable for this quality unit -- good luck
