I have a 2016 F350 Drw with 38,000 miles that popped up the drive to clean notice and instantly popped up filter overloaded service now warning. I drove 75 miles trying to get it to regenerate with no joy. The truck has been in the dealership shop for 2 weeks now awaiting a cac tube replacement part.
They told me the cac was cracked and effected fuel air mixture which prevented regens from occurring. I admit I was not as knowledgeable and proactive with the exhaust system but sure have learned the lesson to be more vigilant from now on.
The real kick is the dealership has no idea when this part is due to arrive. They provided me with a report that stated the cac is on backorder and they are filling orders first come first served but when I spoke to a parts guy he told me that some are waiting since September 3rd. It sure is good thing I'm at least at home and not stuck on the road far away. Now I'm very concerned about further reliability of this truck with seemingly less than desired service support.
Has anyone had this problem cAused by a cac failure (which gave no indication when it failed) ?
I asked the service advisor if they could just manually regenerate so I could drive it until the parts come In Since I didn't even realize it was leaking but he said no.
Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks for the idea. Ill check to see if they will install if I supply since it is covered under warranty. I sure don't mind purchasing one if they cover installation and regenerate. Thanks again

Check out the Rudy's kit. I found it to be the lowest priced CAC pipe out there, besides the factory pipe. I hope your DPF isn't ruined! I've heard of people destroying their DPF after driving a ways after their CAC filed. Apparently the engine goes into super smoke mode with a cracked CAC pipe, and it easliy overwhelms the DPF. Hope for the best! I would definitely make sure they do a stationary regen once the pipe is replaced.
It sounds like you don't have the DPF percent screen enabled on the dash yet either. This screen lets you see the DPF % Full status in real time, so you can anticipate regens. Its quite helpful to ensure you don't keep doing short trips with a full DPF, which can lead to similar issues like you've already experienced.
Ask your dealer if they can enable this screen for you. They may look at you funny, or tell you they'll do it for a fee, in which case you can do it yourself for just the cost of an OBDII dongle (cheapies are 12 bucks on amazon).
Yes, I hope the DPF is not ruined. I thought very long and hard about driving the 75 miles but ultimately decided to give it a try since it was still running smoothly. Never went into limp mode so there's that going for me I hope. Thanks for the tip!
Like others have said, replace the stock CAC with an aftermarket kit and forget about future CAC pipe issues. An OEM replacement will fail sometime in the future after X amount heat cycles so there is no point waiting any longer for a less than ideal replacement from FORD even if it's covered under warranty.
You could ask your dealer if they would be willing to install the aftermarket kit since there is no OEM availability. If they refuse, this is something you can install yourself while it's on their lot with a 8mm socket, 10mm deep socket, 11mm deep socket, screw driver, ratchet and a couple of extensions.

If its ruined at least you are still potentially within the warranty period of 5/50.
I spoke to the service advisor and he is willing to install an aftermarket kit I supply. I browsed around and found many of the kits unavailable and was able to come across Rudy's kit and ordered it for receipt tomorrow. I kind of liked the H&S tube but was unavailable. Thanks for all of the info guys, hopefully, I'll be on the road next week.

Took my 2011 f350 to dealership to get DPF screen enabled... they said their equipment was not able to do it... what is a OBDII dongle?

I think they are just being lazy. It takes less than 10 minutes to do, from start to finish.
Hook the truck up to their IDS software.

Boom, it's done.
