While towing, after topping a hill I noticed my exhaust brake went off and I wasn’t the one who turned it off. I tried to turn it back on and it just blinked at me a few times. After that I read my codes on my EZLYNK Autoagent 2.0 the PO234 overboost code was showing. No check engine light but the truck wouldn’t boost over 14-15 PSI. I usually boost 30PSI+. I could still run 80MPH down the freeway no problem but the truck did have significantly less power. When I got to where I was going I cleared the codes and it’s been running normal ever sense. What kind of problem could I have going on? TIA!!
Thank you for chiming in, my pickup is deleted and tuned with GDP tunes so my warranty is gone. If I have a turbo problem I will probably go with a non VGT from MPD but my concern is that I don’t want to have the same problem after getting a new turbo. Any other possible problems that I could take a look at and hopefully get it pinpointed? Thanks!
I think, based on my testing with the gen1 turbo which doesn't handle high boost long term, you need a lower HP calibration that doesn't allow higher boost. I don't know much about the gen2 turbo on the 2016 to know how much boost is safe all the time such as pulling a long grade.
Normally you would work with GDP to see what is happening but no idea if they'll even talk with you at this point for a non-emissions pickup.
I got that code once on my 2015 truck. Pulling up a 7% grade in July at 100° towing a load of horses.
It shut the truck right down. I coasted to the side of the road. Pulled the code and called the dealer. They told me it was an overboost and there was a flash that would adjust the sensor so it wasn't as sensitive.
I cleared the code. Drove that weekend and took it in the next week. They flashed the latest software and everything was good after that,
