Possible. Since the upper valance (the sheet metal piece between the hood and the grille) is also from a '51, the intrigue continues. In the 70+ years since it was new any number of things could have happened. As long as the truck seems sound and works for you, it's a win.
What are your plans?

Welcome John. First off, your truck oozes cool. I can’t remember the last time I saw one that looked aged and original and perfect like your truck. As for the year/title/vin mystery...big picture it doesn’t really matter. In 70 years these trucks usually end up being a combo of several different trucks in order to keep them on the road. If your data plate and registration match then you are good to go.

I am very happy with it! Thanks for the help. At this time my plan is to just pick away at the things I can handle (tail lights, door gaskets, hubcaps, front end and steering a bit loose, etc) and just drive it as much as possible. I just want it to look the same and be mechanically sound. My wife has a greenhouse business so we want to use it to transport plants to farmers market.
