Soooo...a little while back I posted about not getting FICM Sync, removing the relay, putting it back in, and the truck starting right up. When I got home I put a new relay in.
Fast forward to today, about two weeks later. Truck has been running perfectly. But...now the truck won’t start after sitting for an hour and a half. No FICM sync. FICM main power is at 48.5, logic power is at 11.5. Still no sync. I don’t think it’s the relay, because when I remove it voltage for both drops to zero. When I put it back in voltage goes back to 48.5 and 11.5. I’m thinking pretty much my FICM needs to be replaced...which sucks because it has the Atlas 40 tune on it and I’ll have to pay for it again. Any chance it’s not my FICM?
Truck just started after letting it sit for 20 min with the hood up. This has worked both times this has happened. Heat soaked FICM? After the gym this morning where it sat for 50 minutes it started right up 🤷♂️
Yep, while cranking. 11.5 or 12.0. I just shut the truck off and tried to restart it several times. It fired right up each time.
Anyone know the PID for ICP voltage? I don’t seem to have it on my DASHDAQ, but maybe it’s listed under something I’m not thinking of. Spoke with Ed at FICMRepair and he mentioned my ICP psi reading may be an inferred value vs actual. I need to see the voltage to make sure the FICM is actually getting the signal to sync
At startup IPR duty cycle does shoot up to high 60’s to 70’s before it lights up. I forgot to see what it was staying at when it was cranking and I wasn’t getting FICM sync.
What are the rpm readings during these different starting attempts?
Honestly I’m not sure...but it’s cranking quickly. I just started the truck and the reading instantly goes to 150 or so and the truck starts. It was cranking at least that speed when it wasn’t getting FICM sync
Typically no FICM sync is due to a problem with either the FICM or the cam sensor.
Yeah, my gut says it’s not a high pressure oil leak issue, but I’ve been wrong before. And I figured Ed has forgotten more than I’ll ever know about this stuff
I now have Cam sync as one of the PID’s so next time this happens I’ll be able to see. When I started up the truck a bit ago both achieved sync at the same time.
So, the first time it happened 3 weeks ago there were no codes. Today there were 2 codes, but I think they occurred because I pulled the FICM relay and turned the key to “on”, which showed 0 volts both FICM main and logic power. P0611 (FICM performance) and P1378 (FICM low voltage).
I just cleared them and started the truck, they didn’t return.

So, truck is acting up again. Started right up this morning. Drove to the gym. At the gym a little over an hour and now it won’t start. No cam sync. IPR cycle is at 45 while cranking, so I’m guessing not a high pressure oil leak. How bad is the cam sensor to change out?
From what Ed told me, a failing FICM can cause a no-start when hot, but resume its normal function with only just a little cooling. Also, I have a very lightly used FICM (International) that I want to sell. Only been used as a troubleshooting spare. PM me if you are interested.
