My alarm has started going off randomly for no reason. Sometimes as im standing next to it. I checked all the door sensors and hood sensor, lubed them up. Never get any door ajar warnings while driving. No CEL on.
Randomly, while driving I think i hear that relay sound when the turn signal or flasher blinks but ive never caught it and never actually seen it. i just think i hear it so it may be my imagination.
I ran forscan and see code B10F1 - key in switch
Additional fault symptom:
Circuit short to ground or open.
I'm assuming that code is very generic and is only a starting point for an expensive trip to the dealer. Any suggestions?
Came back to add that I noticed that when i jiggle key in ignition not running with door open it makes door chime and seat memory go on or off. Will a bad lock cylinder module cause the alarm to go off?
Sounds like the dealership tech couldn't figure out which part was causing the failure so they'd like for you to pay for both to be replaced.
I would assume the source of this problem could be located with a test light and a wiring diagram, or is it intermittent?

Well the ignition was definitely wonky. I could sit in the truck and put in key and the seats and chime would go off but it if I wiggled key they would stop. Very few times I put in key and nothing happened until I turned truck on. Also for the first time that morning I closed my drivers door and the door ajar light stayed on.
My guess is I diagnosed it myself and they confirmed. (I did mention those two things to them and also the random alarm going off).
they are replacing latch and switch on door for some reason so maybe latch is worn as well, as well as replacing the ignition switching saying the wire was bent/broke and making intermittent contact. They are not replacing the key cylinder.
While I know I could fix it myself, I hate chasing the electrical problems down, and at least I get a 120 day warranty on diagnosis fees if the alarm keeps going off.
