I have a '95 F150 4.9 short bed where the previous owner cut the stock lines in multiple places and half-assed the repair with hose clamps, nylon, and fuel injection hose. I want to fix it right.
I researched AN line and fittings and chose Russell Performance products -6 AN size line and fittings. I will use the stock filter and replace all of the lines. Is there anything I need to lookout for in doing this? Does anyone know about how much length of hose I will need? I'm thinking 25' will be more than enough.
I don’t know the exact set up on your truck but if it’s got a return line to the tank, 25’ is probably cutting it a little too close. You’d be surprised how much extra all those little bends can add.
Also, on most trucks the fuel lines and rear brake line share the same brackets which are typically made of plastic. If they don’t break as you’re trying to remove the old lines, they’ll flex and depending on the condition of the brake line, you’ll probably end up replacing those as well.
It depends on exactly how the brackets are configured, but if the brake line is rusty enough, you may just want to replace it anyway, especially if dropping the tank as it would be much easier to replace at that time.
